Top 5 Reasons To Proactively Treat Your Bellaire Lawn For Turf-Destroying Sod Webworms & Armyworms:
Damage to Grass: Grubs and webworms can cause extensive and costly damage to your lawn by feeding on the roots and blades of grass, resulting in brown patches and thinning areas.
Prevention of Turf Loss: If left untreated, grub and webworm damage can become severe enough to kill large areas of turf. Treating early can prevent this from happening.
Cost Savings: Addressing pest problems early can save you money in the long run, as repairing or replacing damaged turf can be more expensive than preventing it.
Aesthetics: A healthy, lush lawn is a point of pride for many homeowners. Treating for grubs and webworms can help maintain the appearance of your lawn.
Environmental Concerns: Pesticides can be harmful to the environment and non-targeted organisms. Treating only when necessary and using environmentally friendly options can help address pest problems while minimizing impact.
Best Sod Webworm Treatment
Sod webworms are the infant caterpillars of a type of Crambus moth. Usually, the larvae are laid in the thatch layer of grass in late summer, stay dormant over winter, then morph into the worm state in late springtime. Throughout the summer, they will mature into moths and lay more eggs, which can continue to morph and grow, causing multiple generations in one season.
The sod webworms will eat individual grass blades overnight at the soil surface, causing minor damage at a time, which can build into large patches of what looks like scalped grass. This can become permanent damage depending on the rate of infestation spread and summer heat and drought.
Armyworm Control
The name may fool you, but armyworms are not worms at all; they are moth caterpillars and are the larvae of a species belonging to the Noctuidae family.
Named for their behavior, armyworms march in large numbers like an army, destroying crops and grasses in their path. They aren’t picky and will devour just about any vegetation. Most damaging in their larval stage, armyworms are common lawn and agricultural pests that feed on a wide range of plants, including your beautiful lawn!
Armyworms are particularly disastrous to Bermuda lawns, a very common turfgrass in southeast Texas. Similar to the sod webworm, signs of armyworm presence may begin with small brown patches in your yard. If you come across a mystery worm or caterpillar, look for vertical lines that run down their backs – that is the best way to identify it as an armyworm.
Grubs In Lawn
The white grubs found in our local soils are the immature stages of May or June beetles, commonly called “June bugs.” These grubs are especially common during the hot and humid months. They live in the soil and feed on the roots of grass, causing damage to lawns and gardens.
Lawn Grubs are typically creamy white in color with a C-shaped body and can grow up to 1-2 inches in length. Lawn grubs can be a major pest for homeowners, as they can quickly infest large areas and cause significant damage to turf and plants.
Signs of a grub infestation include brown patches of grass that can be easily pulled up and an increase in the presence of birds or other animals digging up the lawn to feed on the grubs.
How to Get Rid of Grubs in Lawn
Treatment for sod webworms, armyworms, and treatments for lawn grubs all typically involve using insecticides or natural remedies like nematodes or beneficial bacteria to control the population.
Regular lawn maintenance, such as proper watering and fertilization, can also help prevent with these pest infestations.

We have had some issues in the past with finding talent in the area that does the job right, always shows up, and keeps us informed. Greengate does all of that. They always respond to you whether it's email or phone call and will get you quotes with a sense of urgency. They understand that my time is valuable. With Greengate we literally never have to worry about our lawn care and maintenance. If you want a peace of mind and a great looking yard year round, Greengate is perfect! They have been doing our lawn consistently for almost two years now and I have never had one complaint!

Greengate is the best lawn service company I've ever used (and I feel like I've been rotating through them forever). Not only is the service reasonably priced, my lawn looks the best it ever has. They cover all of the basics, but also have key additions (like humic acid) and services (like sod webworm and antifungal treatments) included.
On top of that - they are extremely (I wish I could bold that) responsive. I get email responses within the hour, and when I had an issue with some fungus they were out within two days, no questions asked. I would recommend them without reservation.

Our yard needed a complete maintenance overhaul. The crew today made up of Wilmer, Javier and Osman exceeded all my expectations. They were detailed and complete in getting the job done. Thank you!!! So happy to have switched to Greengate for all my landscaping needs. Not looking back!!!

The office staff is WONDERFUL! Every time I call I get a quick answer, my account is already pulled up, and they are happy to answer the silliest of questions with a smile I their voices. The crew is always on time, in and out quickly. And leaves the gate shut, which is important because of our pets. The company stays in communication about delays and gives you an expected date of service if for whatever reason they are unable to complete the requested services on the scheduled date. I moved to this company on a whim from a local competitor after I spent MONTHS trying to get on a consistent bi-weekly schedule with them. (Something Greengate has managed to execute without an issue) Over all, A+++ for Greengate!!!

We highly recommend GreenGate for their lawn and landscaping fertilization, weed and pest control. We tried TruGreen and GreenBee with disappointing results before turning to GreenGate. Our lawn has never been healthier, and we constantly get compliments on it from friends and neighbors. Their organic approach has made it healthier for our pets as well. The GreenGate team is so professional and courteous and take the time to listen to any needs or concerns while they’re on site to provide scheduled services.

Baldwin said the town was named “Bellaire” or “Good Air” for its breezes. Bellaire may have been named after Bellaire, Ohio, a city served by one of Baldwin’s rail lines.
